Three books I've enjoyed recently...

Today I’m sharing THREE BOOKS I’VE ENJOYED RECENTLY and THREE BOOKS IN MY “TO READ” PILE.

Reading is one of my favourite things. When I was in school I used to look forward to getting the reading lists for the year and over the school holidays I was part of a club that provided you with lists of books to read and you got prizes depending on how many books you read from the list. Every year I did it, I completed the list and got all the prizes. As an adult, is there a more indulgent, relaxing activity than sitting inside with a cup of hot chocolate, or tea or whatever and getting lost in a good book? It's definitely how I spent my last weekend.

There was a short while that I didn’t prioritise getting reading into my everyday schedule. That’s changed now and it’s part of my daily routine so I get to indulge in this thing that brings me so much joy daily.

Here are three books I've read recently and really enjoyed.

  1. The Pier Falls by Mark Haddon
A great collection of short stories
  2. Waterlog by Roger Deakin
    For lovers of wild swimming
  3. As I Walked Out One Midsummer Morning by Laurie Lee
My copy of this book now has very crinkly pages after being dropped in the water while I was trying to read it while swimming on my holiday in Spain (I may have read this one right after Waterlog)

THREE BOOKS IN MY “TO READ” PILE:

  1. Tools of Titans by Tim Ferriss
  2. Ghostwritten by David Mitchell
  3. Algorithms to Live By: The Computer Science of Human Decisions by Brian Christian and Tom Griffiths

I like to buy books from independent bookshops and charity shops where possible. If you’re looking to buy books online both indiebound.org and hive.co.uk are great options otherwise just hit the streets in search of your local book shop.
