It's Summer. It's easy to get so busy that you forget to put yourself first. Between weddings, BBQs, school holidays, Summer can be a really busy time, which means it's even more important to take care of yourself. Here are Three Good Summer Self Care Rituals.
Go outdoors and get into some water.
Summer isn't the time to spend indoors in a pool. The sea temperature here in the UK warms up, lakes, rivers and streams are also much more appealing when you get the dappled sunshine breaking through the trees above. As humans, it's not often we get to feel weightless so one of my top recommendations for how to feel great in Summer is just to go and get into some water. Float a while. Swim if you want. Put some goggles on and have a look under water. See what you can find. Let the water wash off the bad moods and the stress. It doesn't have to be much, even just have a paddle and dip your toes in.
Have a night under the stars.
Whatever form this needs to take for you, just do it. Whether you're headed off for a weekend camping, or are wrapping up with blankets and a flask of tea in the back garden. There is something so magic, and humbling about staring up at the stars. Struggling with light pollution in the city? Check out the Dark Sky Discovery website for some recommendations of the designated dark sky areas in the UK.
Eat something that is in season.
It's a treat that can only be compared with eating fruit abroad. Eating food that is in season and has been grown here in the UK will give you a burst of flavour that you don't get from produce that has travelled halfway (or more!) around the world. Go for a walk, pick some blackberries and see how many can make it home.
It doesn't have to be anything huge. Small little things you can do to treat yourself are great. Little and often.
